    Featured Project

Roo Code × Major League Hacking (MLH) — Developer Hackathon

A 48-hour, partner-led developer hackathon designed to drive first-time product usage, activate community, and test events as a scalable early-stage growth lever. Fully owned experiment design and execution in a seed-stage environment for agentic AI coding platform Roo Code as a fractional marketer.

    Workflow

    • Identified hackathons as the highest-signal event format for a developer-first, seed-stage product
    • Scoped the activation as a learning-focused experiment with clear goals around product activation and community growth
    • Partnered with Major League Hacking (MLH), which supports a 1.2M+ global community of hackers, to leverage built-in distribution and event infrastructure
    • Tapped Requesty.ai as a compute partner to remove technical friction for participants, and secured a live demo from Paige Bailey (Google DeepMind) to anchor the agenda, bolster credibility, and expand reach
    • Defined event positioning, registration flow, developer prompts, judging criteria, and promotion across Discord, social, and partner channels
    • Integrated live demos, Office Hours, and post-event follow-up to reinforce onboarding and continued usage

    Outputs

    • 48-hour MLH hackathon
    • 600 registrations; 304 check-ins
    • 43 shipped projects built using Roo Code
    • ~190 first-time Roo Code users activated during the event
    • 4.2B tokens processed with a 99.65% success rate during the hackathon
    • Featured live demo from Paige Bailey (Google DeepMind)
    • Deepened partner engagement through Requesty.ai and the broader ecosystem
    • Validation of hackathons as a repeatable, ecosystem-led early-stage growth motion

    Support

Roo Code founding team, Major League Hacking's organizers, community and distribution platform, Requesty.ai (compute partner), Paige Bailey (Google DeepMind) as featured speaker, ecosystem partners, Discord and community infrastructure, and organic social distribution
